According to Semiconductor Today, STMicroelectronics has launched its GaNSPIN system-in-package family that brings gallium nitride technology to motor drives in appliances and industrial equipment. The first products, GANSPIN611 and GANSPIN612, can power motors up to 400W and feature R values of just 138mΩ and 270mΩ respectively. These devices eliminate the need for heatsinks in many applications while reducing circuit footprint by up to 60%. Priced from $4.44, the GANSPIN611 is available now in a 9mm x 9mm QFN package. The technology will be showcased at SPS – Smart Production Solutions 2025 in Nuremberg from November 25-27. Domenico Arrigo, general manager of the Application Specific Products Division, emphasized the platform’s ability to deliver higher rotational speeds with smaller, lower-cost control modules.
