Apple’s M5 Vision Pro Retains 16GB Memory Configuration, Upgrades Power Delivery

Memory Configuration Unchanged Despite Chip Upgrade

Apple’s newly announced Vision Pro headset with the M5 chip continues to feature 16GB of unified memory, matching the previous model’s configuration despite the chip’s capability to support higher capacities, according to reports from industry tracking sources. While the M5 processor can accommodate up to 32GB of unified memory in other devices like the 14-inch MacBook Pro, sources indicate Apple has maintained the existing memory specification for the mixed reality headset.

Enhanced Power Delivery System

The updated Vision Pro now ships with Apple’s newer 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max capability in the United States, Canada, and select other markets, analysts suggest. This represents a significant upgrade from the previous model’s 30W USB-C Power Adapter, which has been discontinued in regions where the higher-capacity charger has been released. However, the report states that some international markets including the United Kingdom and Australia will continue receiving the 30W adapter variants.

Performance and Comfort Improvements

Beyond the processor upgrade, the new Vision Pro includes several notable enhancements that reportedly contribute to an improved user experience. According to sources, the device now features a more comfortable Dual Knit Band included in the packaging and supports 120Hz refresh rates for reduced motion blur. These improvements are particularly noticeable when using the Mac Virtual Display feature, which analysts suggest provides a smoother visual experience comparable to other industry developments like major corporate restructuring in the technology sector.

Market Context and Availability

The decision to maintain 16GB of RAM comes amid broader industry trends where companies are balancing performance enhancements with cost considerations. This approach mirrors strategic decisions seen in other sectors, such as energy market adaptations and infrastructure optimization. The updated Vision Pro from Apple Inc. is currently available for pre-order with an official launch scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, according to the company’s announcement.

Industry Implications

The mixed reality market continues to evolve with companies making strategic hardware decisions similar to approaches in other technology domains. These developments parallel industry movements such as regulatory adaptations in urban technology and the implementation of artificial intelligence solutions across various sectors. The Vision Pro’s specific configuration choices reflect what analysts suggest is a calculated approach to balancing performance, thermal management, and market positioning in the competitive extended reality landscape.
